Jeremiah Useni and members of his group as "dissidents", saying they had no right to dissolve the reconciliation committee he is heading. Gov. Ibrahim took this position as his reaction to the parallel National Executive Committee meeting (NEC) held in Abuja last November 27 by the Useni group. "We do not consider Gen. Useni and his people as a faction. We consider them as dissidents," he emphasised. He said that Useni’s group does not have any powers to dissolve the reconciliation committee he is heading, noting that at the Maiduguri NEC meeting chaired by the National Chairman, Chief Don Etiebet, the work of his committee was commended. Gov. Ibrahim said that the NEC had also renamed his committee as the Peace Committee and mandated it to ensure reconciliation of the crisis in the party. He said, however, that they would reach out to the "dissidents" and "bring them back to the party."
