Mohammed Abdullahi, powers to grant or deny ministers approval to travel out of Abuja. In a statement by Justin Abuah of the office of the Special Assistant to the President on Media, Obasanjo denied the report as fictitious and false. The Presidency acknowledged that requests by ministers to travel out of Abuja were usually routed through the Chief of Staff as a matter of routine and due courtesy but that it was erroneous to report that the President has conferred on Abdullahi the powers to control ministers� movement. According to Abuah, �There is no new presidential directive to that effect and President Obasanjo has certainly not directed his Chief of Staff �to ensure that the ministers are well focused on discharging their duties by not immersing themselves in the murky waters of politics ahead of 2007� as contained in the media report.� The statement went ahead to stress that �there is no factual basis whatsoever for the report and no one should be deceived by the Nigerian Tribune�s attempt to make the fictitious report credible by quoting faceless, and in all probability, non-existent �Presidency sources� and very visible cabinet ministers�   Copyright� 2004.
