Anambra
Congress for Igbo Agenda (CIA), has given the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to arrest and prosecute brains behind the crisis in Anambra State. Prresident of the organisation, Reverend Chukwudi Peace, while briefing the press yesterday in Lagos, explained that Nigerians will blame President Olusegun Obasanjo, if he fails to arrest the brains behind the crisis after the ultimatum. "With this, we are making it clear that we in the congress and indeed Ndigbo in general are not afraid neither are we daunted by the antics of this lawless government. We are not going to continue to fold our arms and watch the wanton destruction of Igboland", he said. Members of the congress, made up of NGOs, Igbo in commerce, corporate organisations and professional bodies dressed in an all black attire, mourning the actions of bad governance. Peace said the organisation has written the presidency, Embassies, Igbo organisations within and outside, adding that what will happen after 14 days, if nothing is done, will be better imagined. "I pray we won't get there, because we have vowed to fight terrorism with the last drop of our blood. The people we are dealing with understand only one language, which is brute force. "We want to make Obasanjo know that he is just a man and not God. The throne of a king can only be sustained when there is peace", he said. The Congress called on all Igbo sons and daughters nominated for this year’s national award emulate Professor Chinua Achebe b y rejecting the award, stressing that receiving such awards in the face of what has been going on in Anambra State in particular and Igboland in general, will not only be insulting the sensibilities of Ndigbo, but endorsing these evil activities, adding that it will amount to receiving a curse unto themselves.
