Yes No Indifferent View results Hold Govt Accountable, Williams Tells Nigerians By Theophilus Oyekanmi, 12.07.2004 Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) govrnorship candidate in Lagos State, Engr. Funsho Williams has challenged Nigerians to hold elected officials at all levels accountable for their stewardship at whatever capacities they are serving. According to Williams, the government of the day should be sincere to the electorate and avoid a situation where the people would regret taking the decision to vote to power. "All promises should be redeemed by the people in political offices," he said. On Lagos State government, he said "Tinubu should not take Lagosians for a ride. The same way he promised us in the first term without any significance difference is the same way he is also promising now." He pointed out that "you can see now that time is not on our side and if people like us keep mute, he will believe that the entire Lagosians are fools." Asked to rate Tinubu's administration, Williams explained that "you will notice that ever since after that advertorial, combined with media war waged to determine his performance, the state is now witnessing some improvement in infrastructural amenities." He said also that "the score card and the rating we came out with then are not mere figure, but real fact behind the figure; and that has put them on their toes." On the Federal Government performance, Williams also berated some ministers, lawmakers and some presidential aides whom he said are only after their pockets and who seek personal gains in te name of serving government. He said "lawmakers in Lagos State are not doing what is expected of them while some of the senators, are out there for the purpose of lining their own pockets." Williams said "we have some ministers and presidential aides who are not pursuing the President's agenda.
