WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2004           Aliero rejects bill on new emirates The Kebbi state governor, Alhaji Adamu Aliero, has disassociated himself from the bill passed by the state House of Assembly creating two additional emirate councils from the present Gwandu emirate. �I have nothing to do with the bill and it does not have our blessing or support,�� Aliero told news men in Birnin Kebbi. �My government will have nothing to do with anything that will jeopardise the peace and security of the state, it is not an executive bill, it is a legislature�s bill, we will never support such bill. �The way and manner the bill was passed leaves much to be desired,�� he added pointing out: �There was no consultation with stakeholders��. He noted the haphazard manner the bill was passed, pointing out that it was introduced and passed through first, second and third readings before being passed on the same day. Aliero vowed not sign the bill into law, stressing that the state government was awaiting the report of its committee on the matter. The state Assembly had on Wednesday, unanimously passed the bill splitting the present Gwandu Emirate into three emirates, creating Aliero and Jega emirates.
