CNPP cautions Dariye against sycophancy

The Plateau chapter of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has cautioned Governor Joshua Dariye to be wary of sycophants and praise-singers.

Addressing newsmen in Jos at the weekend on recent developments in the state, the CNPP noted with concern, the re-emergence of some opportunists who did not mean well for the state.

The State chairman of the group, Mr Chidi Ndu, who addressed news men, reminded the governor that it was the same group of self seekers that misadvised him, resulting in the ugly incidents preceding the declaration of emergency rule in the state.

It was obvious that such opportunists failed to advise the governor on the true situation on ground but rather resorted to praise singing for their selfish purposes. We see this ugly trend re-emerging, he noted.

CNPP also observed that other political parties in the state were not being integrated into the peace process in spite of the fact that they were also stakeholders.

It expressed the willingness of the opposition parties to take part in building a peaceful Plateau and suggested the holding of periodic meetings between the parties and the ruling PDP government.

The CNPP advised the governor to marshal out programmes that had direct bearing on the lives of the people, such as road construction, provision of portable water, health care delivery system and education.

It also urged the governor to ensure the prompt payment of the entitlements of civil servants and avoid over-bloating the administrative structure with political appointees.
