WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2004           Inter-Local Government Soccer Tourney: Kano FA calls for registration LOCAL government councils of Kano state have been called upon to register for the 2005 inter-local government soccer competition tagged �Governor Shekarau Cup.� The organiser of the championship, Kano state Football Association (FA), advised intending participating teams to register at its secretariat. Speaking with Daily Triumph Sports, the secretary of the state FA, Alhaji Auwalu Musa Zakairai, explained that registration will last for two weeks beginning from today (December 8) as late entries would not be entertained. Alhaji Zakirai said that the registration fee is N30,000 while that of license is N7,000, adding that the association would not extend the registration exercise. The secretary reiterated the commitment of the association towards ensuring a well-organised tournament in the state. He appealed to local government chairmen to assist the association towards the smooth organisation of the championship as part of the efforts to the upliftment of sports, especially football. He said that the association has concluded arrangement so that the competition would commence early next year. Alhaji Zakirai then commended the state commissioner of information, youths and sports, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar for his support and cooperation.
