WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2004           NFA begs for Fund Faced with financial difficulties over the hosting of the CAF champions league final, the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) is now cap in hand, soliciting support from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Nasir El-Rufai. Defending champions Enyimba FC of Aba are billed to clash with Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in the second leg final on Sunday in Abuja. Enyimba had, on Saturday in Tunis, lost the first leg by 2-1 to the North Africans. Sources at the Glass House, however, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the cost of organising and hosting the match would be picked up by both the NFA and Enyimba FC. Although a Local Organising Committee (LOC) has been set up, NAN gathered that its operations might run into hitches due to cash crunch. The situation has also forced the LOC to schedule a visit to the MFCT on Monday, to solicit support for funds, logistics, accommodation and transportation for CAF officials and the visiting team. Meanwhile, NFA officials have advised Enyimba technical crew to concentrate on preparing the team to beat the Tunisians in the crucial match. ``The victory over Enyimba looks narrow but it may be difficult sometime to even cancel a 1-0 defeat, so, Enyimba has an arduous task ahead,'' an official who pleaded anonymity said.
