WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2004           Sokoto govt procures N350m drugs Sokoto State government recently purchased drugs worth about N350 million, according Gov. Attahiru Bafarawa. Bafarawa made the disclosurae in Monday in Sokoto at the opening of a three-day national workshop for nurses and midwives working in secondary and tertiary educational institutions in the country. Bafarawa, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, said part of the drugs was distributed to the 23 local councils and the rest used to reinvigorate the drugs revolving fund across the state. According to him, four primary health centres have been set up, while some have been upgraded and several general hospitals given a facelift. He said the training and re-training of all cadres of health personnel would be given top priority. �To this end, all health training institutions will continue to be adequately funded,�� he pledged. The governor described nurses and midwives as the �pivot� of the nation�s health care delivery system.
