AS part of its contribution towards boosting
the nation's economy and making youth in the society self-reliant and
gainfully employed, a non-governmental organisation known as Youth Alliance
for Democracy and Social Justice (YADASOJ), has planned to establish a
vocational training centre in Kano.
To this end, the organisation will soon deposit
application forms at the secretariat of all the 44 local government councils
for onward distribution to prospective candidates.
YADASOJ chairman, Alhaji Nuradden Abdullahi
Shuaibu, who dropped this hint in a statement said the centre, when
established, would provide training in the field of sewing, weaving,
threading modern (chemical) dyeing meat roasting etc.
He said even though the centre would be wholly
run by his organisation, it would however, be glad if the state and local
government councils would reciprocate this gesture by providing prospective
candidates with six to mine month training allowances with a view to
ensuring a smooth training session.
Alhaji Shuaibu pointed out that the philosophy
behind the idea was not only aimed at stemming the tide of unemployment
among the teeming youth, but also to reduce redundancy, idleness and curb
criminal activities perpetrated mostly by youth in the society.
According to him, the training programme would
be a continuous process at the end of which each graduands would receive a
revolving loan and posted to a strategic location to enable them market
their services/products effectively.
He said the organisation would also secure
admission forms into military training school, Zaria, for interested
candidates in addition to sponsorship it provides to some candidates
studying at various institutions of higher learning in the country.
The YADASOJ) chairman therefore solicited for the support and
cooperation of the state and local government councils public spirited
individuals, organisations, and other philanthropists to work towards
ensuring proper moral upbringing of the youth for a fruitful adulthood
