For Kano�s good Contrary to the popular assumption that political leaders regard opposition as a stumbling block to progress, Governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano state has acknowledged benefiting from constructive criticisms by some members of the opposition. Governor Shekarau who opened up when he presented the 2005 budget proposal to the state House of Assembly yesterday, said, he has recognized the patriotic role of some members of the opposition. �I find it again necessary to express special gratitude to all those who through their constructive criticisms and advice made us aware of our shortcomings and at times supplied part of the wisdom required to discharge our responsibilities�, the governor declared. He stated that his administration will continue to oblige any advice so long as it is for the public good. Malam Shekarau therefore implored those who have resorted to unconventional and undignified ways of opposition to abandon such course and join the path of civility. The governor maintained that unless all the stakeholders in the state join hands together, the people of the state may continue to record slow progress and development.
