We can return fire for
fire, Delta warns mischief makers

Against the backdrop of the attempt to smear the
image of Governor James Ibori through the ex-convict case, the Delta State
Government has warned persons behind the act to desist from further campaign of
calumny otherwise it would also act decisively against them.
The government maintained that no individual had the
monopoly of mischief calculated at bringing down the government, and warned
perpetrators of such acts not to push it to the wall.
Secretary to the state government, Dr. Emmanuel
Uduaghan handed down the warning on Friday when a group that called itself the
Gwagwalada Collective paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Uduaghan who, while on vacation abroad was rumoured
to have died or paralysed, said that the rumour about him and the ex-convict
allegation against the governor were similar in nature, aimed at bringing the
two of them down through mischief.
According to him, that the governor had said that he
had forgiven all persons behind his travail, was not a licence for the
perpetrators of such an action to continue.
He lamented that the pains and agony foisted on the
people by the acrimony were avoidable, explaining that the people of the state
stood behind the governor since they see the case as not directed at him as a
person but at every Deltan.
Uduaghan noted that the battle was not over and that
until the governor left office in 2007, there would still be people aspiring to
bring him down. He appealed to such people to tread the path of peace and
dignity in the overall interest of the state.
The SSG further stated that the ex-convict case had
never slowed down the administration, neither had it made the state
government to lose focus as per
bringing development to all parts of the state.
Leader of the delegation, Mrs Faith Majemite had told
the scribe that they came to pay solidarity with him on his return from
vacation and with the state government on the legal victory.
She urged the SSG to remain undaunted in the resolve
at revamping the administrative process of the state government, and all other
efforts aimed at bringing
democracy dividends to the people.
