Last Updated: Saturday, December 11th, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Detained MASSOB members know fate Dec 20 The Federal High Court, Lagos would on December 20 deliver judgement in a suit filed against the Nigeria Police by 53 detained members of the Movement for the Survival of Sovereign State of Biafra. The detainees, including females were arrested at a MASSOB rally in Lagos,  two months ago.  Justice Marcel Awokuleyin made the disclosure in court  yesterday at the resumed hearing of the case. Only the plaintiff’s counsel appeared in previous hearings, as the defendant, the Police, purportedly ignored court summons. Also,the police failed to produce the   detainees.   Counsel to the detainees, Endurance Nkencho, while making a case for their unconditional release, told the court that armless civilians could not have contrived to overthrow the government of a retired four-star general, and that a football field is not a befitting setting for the planning of treason.  “ My clients were charged to court on a holden charge which is illegal” he said.       Copyright� 2004.
