We must kill off games - Kanu
Kanu has warned that West Brom must
display the killer instinct if they are to climb out of relegation trouble.
Albion skipper Kanu was distraught after two goals in
the final five minutes doomed the Baggies to a 3-2 defeat at Portsmouth and
left them at the bottom of the Barclays Premiership table.
The former Arsenal star believes Bryan Robson's side,
who entertain Charlton on Saturday, have played well enough not to be in the
relegation zone.
But the Nigerian international also knows West Brom
have to stay fully focused for the full 90 minutes or risk a repeat of events
at Fratton Park.
He said: "We were not happy after the Portsmouth
game. We lost and I still don't know how it happened but I believe we have to
learn from it.
"It is hard seeing the team at the bottom of the
Premiership because I know we shouldn't be there with the ability we have got
and the way we are playing.
"We should be higher up the table but you have
to kill teams off. It is hard in the Premiership. You can have just seconds
left and think the game is won but sides can still hurt you.
"We have to work hard and keep our feet on the
ground and make sure what happened on Saturday cannot keep on happening.
"I am sure our luck will change but we do have
to learn from our mistakes though and just try to put them right. For me,
Saturday against Charlton is a must-win game."
Kanu believes Albion are playing better football
since Robson was installed as manager a month ago despite the lack of tangible
reward for their efforts.
He said: "Every manager is different with all
their tactics and things but everyone is coping with it.
"It is all new but I think we are playing better. The
points aren't coming our way because we have been unlucky but we now have to
move on."
