MSS also lost to CGDSS 27-32 to allow CGDSS top the group. CGDSS and NGS now move on in the competition.
NGS coach Mrs Caroline Ndubuisi told NAN after the thrilling game, that “we lost but I am happy we have qualified. This match was a tough game and we missed it with just one point. My lads played well and I want to assure you that we are reaching the final to lift the trophy”.
Ebuka Ufochukwu, captain of the NGS team also said that “we missed the match narrowly because of some minor fouls we commited toward the end of the match.
“Again, our opponents used the advantage of their height, but as you can see, we came from behind in the third quarter to level up and took the lead before they were awarded shooting fouls.
“In the semi-final, we shall map out a strategy to defeat our opponents.”
In his reaction, captain of the Bauchi side, Adam Stephen said “it was a tough game. The Nike boys were tactical in their game but God wanted us to win.
“We are happy we have a coach who knows the game but we do not have good shooters. Our boys were shaky even when they were leading with 10 points after the second quarter. “We hope to work harder in the semi-final.”
Coach Abdulrahman Mohammed of the GCDSS told NAN that there was a slight problem with his team as they got tired easily otherwise “we could have won the game with about 20 points.
