Hare Krishna's free food programme
SIR: We have discovered that the Hare Krishna, a religious sect, intends to begin a programme of feeding University of Lagos students with free food.
To the gullible students, this is a wonderful largesse, which would cushion the cost of their daily survival.
But to the spiritually discerning, this goes far beyond mere hospitality. The fact that the food is cooked already even makes it more spiritually suspect.
We are not saying that Hare Krishna should be barred from exercising their benevolence; what we are saying rather, is that such food could be donated "raw" to the university kitchen or if the Hare Krishna insists on serving it cooked, such food must be sanctified by an Ordained Minister of the Gospel or the University Chaplain if there is any one like that.
These are little things that we often overlook but which lead to greater things that cost souls the benefit of heaven.
This is to alert the university authorities as well as fathers of the gospel in the land to rise up and do something positive to sanitise the situation.
