Commissioner Frowns at Vandals

Communities in Adamawa have been charged to guide against vandalization of facilities provided in their various areas. The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Saidu Marumpa, gave the advice while commissioning Bobini Model Health Centre, in Guyuk local government area of the state. Dr. Morumpa said that the Health Centre, which was fully equipped with necessary facilities cost the federal government over N30 million while the local government and benefiting community provided counterpart funding of N1.3 million and N1.04 million respectively. He noted that with the edifice in place, people in the area have been relief of the burden of travelling to distant places to seek medical attention. The Commissioner called on Guyuk local government council to meet its obligation of drugs and personnel to ensure the sustenance of the Centre. He assured the benefiting community that the state government would remain committed to the provision of drugs and other medical needs as well as containing any epidemic. Dr. Marumpa commended the efforts of the National Primary Health Care Agency, Zone D Bauchi, for actualizing the project and promised that the state government will reciprocate the gesture through necessary support. Earlier in his welcome remark, the Chairman, Guyuk local government council, Mr. Joel Dikanwa, thanked the federal government for considering the Bobini ward as one of the benefiting communities under the programme in the state. The Chairman whose address was read by the Council Secretary, Mr. Geoffrey Andare, said to demonstrate its commitment to meet its obligation, the Council has purchased an electric power generating plant for the Health Centre, adding that plans are under way to connect not only the Health Centre but also the entire village with the national grid while efforts would be made to make available portable water in the Centre. The Chairman expressed the community’s gratitude to the federal government, particularly the zonal Co-ordinator Zone D Bauchi, Alhaji Lawal Hadeja, for making the project a reality.
