FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2004           FG urged to rehabilitate Kwanar Dumawa-Babura road THE federal government has again been reminded on the need to rehabilitate the Kwanar-Dumawa to Babura road in view of its great importance to the inhabitants of the area. A reknown business tycoon in Babura local government area of Jigawa state, Alhaji Yakubu Baban Gwari Babura, made the plea while speaking to ourt reporter at his residence. Alhaji Yakubu Babura said the road which was constructed in 1976 had remained without repars since then. He said the federal government had recently award contracts for the rehabilitations of all federal roads across the federation through rehabilitation the federal roads maintenance agency (FERMA), which covers Kwanar Dawanau to Tsamiyar Kwanche in Kano state and another one from Tsamiyar Kwanche to Babura in Jigawa state respectively. The businessman further stated that accidents occurred frequently as a result of the deplorable condition of the road resulting to the loss of lives and properties worth millions of Naira. Alhaji Yakubu Baban Gwari, commended the Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, for awarding various roads contracts in the state. He particularly commended the govenor for the contract on Gujungu-Gumel and Gumel- Babura roads saying it will no doubt improves the socio-economic and political well-beings of the people. He used the occasion to called on the governor, to as a matter of great importance release more funds to the newly elected local government councils enable them execute more development projects that will improve the general welfare of the entire people of the state. Alhaji Yakubu Gwani however thanked the governor for funding polling units in the state which had improved the welfare of the down trodden.
