FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2004           Police shut Lagos computer village The police on Tuesday shut the popular Computer Village in Ikeja as armed policemen frisked people going to transact business there. The Computer Village was shut following a tip off that some traders were planning a fight with members of the outlawed vigilance group, the Oodua People's Congress (OPC). In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Chudi Okafor, a shop owner at the village said ``there was a problem between members of the OPC and touts who sell fake phones �One man came to buy a handset and brought it back for replacement complaining about malfunctioning of the set. �But the man that sold the phone to him refused to replace it making the customer to seek the intervention of OPC to help reclaim his money,'' Okafor said. Riot policemen at the scene said ``we were invited by officials of Ikeja localgovernment to help maintain law and order at the market, so we closed all shops and put a restriction on movement in and around the market.'' NAN learnt that there were no casualties and no arrest was made.
