Yarima advises FG on oil bridging

From farouk Adamu Yakasai, Gusau

Governor Ahmad Sani of Zamfara state has called on the federal government to address the issue of one Naira freight charge removed from fuel bridging to Northern part of the country.

According to Governor Sani, while host to members of IPMAN from Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states in Gusau on Wednesday, described the disparity in petroleum pricing that may likely follow the is unjustisfied.

"It is not justifiable for people in the same country to be paying desparity price for the same commodity."

He stressed that if Kaduna Refinery and other depots in the Northern part of the country were working at full capacity there wouldn't have been any need for bridging.

"Government should wait until these depots and refineries are functioning fully before embarking on the removal of the one Naria allowance", he said.

He maintained that the sudden removal of the one Naira allowance being paid the transporters is a calculated attempt to draw the less developed part of the country further backward.

Governor Sani therefore appealed to the IPMAN members to apply caution while pressing for the reinstatement of the allowance " so that you dont further compound the problems of this section of the country".

He also urged them to maintain the status quo outcome of the deliberations by their leaderhsip and the PPPRA.

Earlier briefing the governor on the quagmire IPMAN found itself, its chairman, Alhaji Uba Salisu Maitaya, explained that removal of the one Naira bridging allowawnce would definitely have negative consequences on the north as one litre of fuel could soar to as much as N55:00.
