Special Assistant to the President (Public Affairs), Chief Femi Fani-Kayode who clarified the issues involved said the judgement was not a victory for Lagos State Government as it was being claimed yesterday by the State Government and Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi. According to Fani-Kayode: “Let us agree that the court did not say that we committed an illegality. One wonders if we have the same judgement. What the court said is that one, on the substantive issue of the creation of local government areas, Lagos State did not meet all the requirements under the constitution for the creation of local government areas. “Therefore, the newly created Local Government Areas are non-existent before the law and not to be recognised. That is what we said from the beginning.
