Deji Akinwalere the man said to have been sacked as national president of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) dismissed his purported removal as unconstitutional and diversionary. Dr Akinwlere told newsmen in Akure that those that attended the meeting where he was purportedly sacked lacked constitutional right to do so. According to him only a handful of members led by the General Secretary of the union, Alhaji Abdulkadir Salam who were allegedly opposed to the internal cleansing of the union were behind the meeting. The national president added that the NEC and CWC meeting of the union couldn’t be called without his approval adding that the decision reached at the alleged illegal meeting was "not bidding on the union, it is illegal, unconstitutional and diversionary.
