    Orientation agency seeks more funds

    PATRICK ODEY, Lafia

NATIONAL Orientation Agency (NOA), in Nasarawa State, has, identified inadequate funding as a major factor impeding its smooth operations in the state.

The state acting Director, of NOA Mallam Ishaku Abari, stated this, last Wednesday, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, when he paid a courtesy call on the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists led by its chairman Chief-Wilson Bako.

According to him, inadequate funds at the disposal of the Agency has almost crippled the activities of the agency, pointing out that the situation has been so for a long time now.

He commended the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist in the state for what he described as "excellence reporting of state government’s activities."

He said, the current correspondents forum, initiated by the correspondents gone a long way in publicising the activities of the state but also served as a litmus test for serving politicians in the state.

While urging journalists to keep the tempo, he charged them to take advantage of the good relationship existing between them and NOA and work together with his agency to project its activities to the outside world.

Responding, chairman of the correspondents chapel, Chief Wilson Bako, commended the Director, for taking the initiative to pay a courtesy call, stressing that "it is only somebody who knows the importance of publicity that could do what the Director has done."

He therefore, assured the Director that members of the chapel would always cooperate with the Agency especially in prospecting the activities of the Agency.
