Fees: Zamfara exempts FG workers
From Zakari Maradun,

Governor Ahmed Sani of Zamfara State has announced the exclusion of children of the federal government staff working in the state from paying school fees.
Governor Sani made the disclosure while receiving the brigade commander of the one mechanised division of the Nigerian army, Sokoto, Colonel James Oladipo, who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House Gusau, the state-capital.
Ahmed Sani stated that henceforth, the children of the federal civil servants working in the state are no longer in the list of those to pay school fees, which was some few moths back introduced for non-indigenes residing in the state.
He used the occasion to commend the military for their wonderful role in maintaining peace and unity, in the state, without which, no state or nation can exist world over.
According to Sani, the support and assistance being rendered by the military and other security agents in the state had helped in no small measure for the state to be one of the most peaceful in the country.
The governor therefore urged them to maintain the tempo and assured them of his government’s determination to continue to support and cooperate with them and their respective organisations so as to have a memorable stay in the state.
Colonel James, earlier in his remarks thanked the government and the people of the state for their understanding, and the supports they have been giving to all the military formations in the state particularly the one based ammunition deport in Gusau.
Daily Trust Investigation revealed that many people were not happy with the development as it affects only few residents who are also believed to have the ability of settling the fees.
Mr. Ezekiel Odunwa, a resident of Gusau and a palm oil seller who has four children told our correspondent that the government was not fair to people like them. “You see I am an ordinary palm oil seller, and I have been in this Gusau for more than three decades but somebody who had just come today is more recognised than me.”
