�sets up training centre at Bonny From Mohammed Shosanya, in Lagos As part of what it described as its efforts to build indigenous capacity in oil and gas operations in the country, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has inspired the setting up of a welding training centre at Bonny Island, in the Niger Delta. The company said in a statement that the centre, established by Hyundai Henry Industires (HHI), the main contractor for the Bonny Terminal Integrity Project, was set up not only to train welders but also to absorb same of the graduates in the execution of BTIP contract. NAPIMs group general manager, Phil Chukwu who commissioned the centre said the training school is a shining example of local content development. The centre, which is first of its kind in the area has no special entry requirement but is open to applicants aged between 18 and 30, who must be literate. These trainees – all indigenes of the Niger Delta are selected jointly by the Rivers state Employment Agency and Bonny Kingdom Development Committee. MORE ON BUSINESS...
