YOUR LETTERS Reactions to articles published in this paper may be directed to the editor via the email address: [email protected] In support of Funtua LG Kindly permit me space in your paper to express my opinion on the recently inaugurated caretaker committee of Funtua local government council, Katsina state. The composition of the committee is no doubt impressive in all respects: it consists of seasoned technocrats. It also has a balanced geographical spread. As an indigene who has been following the trend of events with keen interest regarding the leadership and management of our local government, I feel content that this time around, we will hopefully have a vibrant and patriotic leadership that will make available to us our own share of the DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY at the local government level. It is my fervent hope that the policies of the committee shall be the development of the entire local government areas. It is pertinent to hail the resolve of the caretaker committee chairman in his post inauguration speech when he disclosed that they will operate an open door policy and shall always be ready to accept constructive suggestions aimed at improving the lives of the people. It is my considered view that this open door policy has become an elusive (though desirable) element in the management of local government affairs in the country generally. This is indeed a good omen for our political development, if the chairman and his council will really accept constructive suggestions in good faith. I wish to at this juncture, call on all well meaning clubs, associations and individuals to give their maximum support and co-operation as well as constructive ideas to the caretaker committee so that we could achieve an egalitarian society.
