Oyinlola seeks indigenes' support, faults critics
From Seun Adeoye, Osogbo
GOVERNOR Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State at the weekend urged the indigenes to shun all negative comments by opposing political parties which are aimed at bringing down his government.
Oyinlola described the said critics as confused people who were only struggling to seek relevance in the scheme of things.
The governor spoke at Ibodi, Atakumosa West Local Council during the presentation of staff of office to the newly crowned monarch of the town, Oba Adeloye Ajibike.
He said the peoples' support for his administration would ensure peace.
"We can manage peace with our meagre resources than crisis and disorderliness with huge expenses," he said.
Oyinlola, who condemned those who were criticising the government's welfare packages to monarchs in the state said: "Such people have failed to realise that traditional rulers are chief mobilisers in their various domains".
According to the governor, monarchs have greater role to play in the maintenance of peace in their areas, noting that nothing "is too big or small to be accorded them.
"This administration has decided to accord our royal fathers their pride of place "the governor stated.
He urged monarchs to ensure the success of the 2005 national census.
Oyinlola said: "We must all participate in this exercise, which will undoubtedly aid present and future planning exercise in our country".
He called on all communities in the state to continue to embark on self-help projects.
