Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, has advised aspirants jostling for the 2007 Presidency not to make it a do-or-die affair. The monarch, who stated this at the weekend while receiving the former military administrator of Lagos State, Brig.Gen. Mohammed Marwa (rtd) in his palace, said what should be paramount in the mind of all Nigerians now was how to ensure unity and stability in the country. He bemoaned the various problems facing the country and explained that poor leadership had always been the problem. Adejugbe described Marwa as one of the few men specially created by God to help Nigeria out of the present crises, urging him not to shy away from heeding several calls being made on him to contest the 2007 presidential election. He said he had been watching with keen interest the activities of Marwa for almost a decade, commending him for keeping his honour and integrity intact. "We need people like you to keep this country together. Somebody like you who can touch the lives of the people and serve as a rallying point to keep us together," he stated. Earlier, in his speech, Marwa had told Adejugbe that he was in Ekiti State to commission some projects embarked upon by his Buba Marwa Endowment and to donate drugs to some hospitals in the state. Also, receiving Marwa in his palace, Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adegboye Adegoke, expressed his support and that of his people for the future aspiration of the retired general. The Oba said he and his people had before now resolved to support any presidential aspirant that first stepped on Ikere soil, saying that Marwa would surely emerge as Nigeria's next president. "We are not known to speak with both sides of the mouth, you are our own, our support is for you and you would get there,” Ogoga given his royal blessing. The Ajero of Ijero Ekiti, Oba Adebajo Adewole while welcoming Marwa to his palace, said Nigerians would be lucky to have him as President as from 2007. "We will continue to pray for you and remain with you in this journey. God will take control, by His Grace, the dream will come true," he added.
