Corruption: PDP Condemns Dariye's Allegation
By Tope Akinola, 12.12.2004
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-west zone has denied the allegation leveled against it by the Plateau State Governor, Chief Joshua Dariye that he gave the zone some money. A statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of PDP South-west, Muyiwa Collins, said Dariye alleged that he gave the sum of N200 million to the South-west, chapter of PDP, while given the details of how N1.1 billion was diverted into a private account. Collins said there was no time when the zone sought for assistance from the governor. "The South-west PDP challenges Governor Dariye to come out with his evidence to prove the wild allegation", the statement said, adding that Dariye should come out categorically and mention the person he gave the money to. Collins stressed that the PDP in South-west is strongly behind the PDP-led Federal Government in respect of the war against corruption. "We would not hesitate to take necessary actions within the law to deal with any person or group who may want to drag its name in the mud", he emphasized.
