GOVERNOR Ahmad Sani of Zamfara state has
described stables from Triumph Publishing Company, Kano as forthright and
unbiased in their reportage of activities in the country.
He similarly applauded the stables for their
concern over unwarranted criticisms against the North which it always
respond lucidly in their editorial contents.
Governor Sani made the down to earth
declaration when he received the management team of Triumph Publishing
Company who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Gusau led by
the managing director, Malam Mahmoud Adnan Audi last Friday.
According to him, Triumph stables have always
risen to the occasion especially to some of the issues being raised in their
Southern counterparts.
�Since I was in Bayero University Kano in the
early eighties, I know the role this newspaper has been playing not only for
the people and government of Kano state but for the entire Northern Nigeria.
�At that time, this paper was competing with
the only newspaper we had that is New Nigerian newspaper, the quality of
print, the quality of information especially the quality of editorials which
were normally in responses to some of the issues being raised have always
been very encouraging,� he recalled.
Governor Sani similarly expressed his
confidence in the coverage of the activities of Zamfara state government,
pointing out: �Since I assumed office,� we have not only been reported but
protected from the agonies of the Western media.�
He stressed that Triumph has been a partner in
progress for Zamfara state government as it has always been a helping paper
for the progress and development in Zamfara state,� adding: �We have been
well covered by the paper.
� Since the Sharia was launched we found that
it has been one of the papers that has been championing our cause in this
regard,� he further declared.
In his address earlier, the managing director
of the company, Malam Mahmoud Adnan Audi had intimated Governor Sani that
the management team chose to call on him to show their joy over the numerous
achievements he had recorded as first executive governor of Zamfara state.
Such achievements, he said, include the
people-oriented ZASIDEP programme, provision of amenities and the peaceful
nature of the state.
The managing director also assured Governor
Sani of Triumph�s commitment to promoting and defending the interest of the
North �which is our catchment area�, and promised continuous defending of
its interests.
He solicited the support of Governor Sani
towards patronizing the company through advert placements and production of
exercise books, concurring with him on the wisdom for Northern governors to
support Northern press.
Malam Adnan similarly, expressed gratitude to
the governor for the congratulatory letter he sent to him on his appointment
as managing director and promised Triumph will continue placing high premium
on Zamfara state.
The managing director was accompanied on the courtesy call by
the commercial services controller, Alhaji Muhammad Adamu, the Deputy
Editor-in-Chief, Alhaji Muktari Magaji and the Chief Photographer, Umoru
Ibrahim.
