MONDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2004           KTSG invests N310m in completion of industries From MU�AWUYA B. IDRIS, Katsina KATSINA state government has so far invested over N310.5 million for completion of three industries in the state. The industries include, Funtua Brickworks, Kankia Metalworks, and Kankara Processing Company. The state commissioner of commerce, industry and tourism, Alhaji Yusuf Bello Mai�adua told a press conference in Katsina on Friday that out of the amount, N222 million was invested into Funtua Brickwork by both state and local government. Alhaji Bello explained that N41,263,416 was expended on Kankia Metalworks while N48.5 million was invested on Kankara Kaolin Project. On Funtua Brickworks, Alhaji Bello said a committee was set up headed by Alhaji Mu�azu Funtua for the completion of the project. He explained that the project has already undergone production test-run and is waiting commissioning. He said the factory has a capacity to produce 30 million bricks per annum at fifty to sixty percent plant capacity. Alhaji Bello explained that government is making effort to involve investors in the running of three industries. Meanwhile, Katsina state government has completed arrangement to construct a modern trade fair complex and container freight in Funtua. The state commissioner further announced the intension to reactivate motels at Daura, Funtua, Malumfashi and Dutsin-ma. According to him, government will construct ten additional chalets at Katsina Motel and transformation of Funtua Motel into full fledged holiday resort to capture market from Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and neighbouring Niger Republic. Alhaji Bello said a surrounding wall will also be built around Malumfashi Motel to provide security and customer�s comfort.
