MONDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2004           C�ttee on Armed Forces Remembrance day inaugurated THE Kano state commissioner for information Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, has inaugurated a 15-member state planning committee on Armed Forces Remembrance Appeal Week celebration for the year 2005. The commissioner who spoke through the permanent secretary, Alhaji Imam Ahmad Zubair, stressed the strength and significant of the celebration considering the selfless contributions of the Armed Forces in protecting the corporate entity of the country during national crises of early sixties. The commissioner, charged members of the committee to ensure successful launching of the Appeal Week through mobilising the general public to donate generously for the up keep of ex-service men and their families. The Armed Forces remembrance week would be celebrated between 9th and 15th January next year. Other members of the committee include a representative each from Nigerian Army, Airforce, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Legion, ministries of Information, Environment, Local Government as well as protocol of the state House of Assembly.
