MONDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2004           Akwa Ibom ANPP loses bigwig to PDP Dr. Samuel Udonsak, the ANPP gubernatorial running mate in the 2003 general elections in Akwa Ibom, has defected to the PDP. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Udonsak, with 25 others, formally declared their support for the PDP at the Palace Meridian Hotel in Eket recently. It will be recalled that Udonsak was the leading contender in the ANPP governorship race at the peak of campaigns last year. He however, lost the candidacy to Dr. Ime Umanah, who made him his running mate in the election, but later lost to the PDP. Speaking at the occasion, Udonsak described his exit and return to the PDP as a political journey in which much experience had been gained. �The PDP is the party I helped to form. I will not ask the party what it can do for me, rather I will put in my zeal to do what the party wants me to do for it,�� he said. A high point of the occasion was the issuance of membership registration card bearing number �139� to him, which qualified him as a bona fide member of the party. The ANPP in the area has, within one year, lost two of its prominent members, including retired Brig.-Gen. Anthony Etukudo and Chief Etim Abia, to the ruling PDP.
