NATIONAL NEWS Help reinstate bank MD, shareholder pleads with IG By KAYODE MATTHEW Sunday, December 12, 2004 A SHAREHOLDER of IMB International Bank Plc, Topmost Group of Companies, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to assist the new Managing Director of the bank Mr Adewale Raji to assume duties in compliance with an order of court. In a petition to the police boss through the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and signed by Prince Ayodele Bankole, it said that Raji was appointed as the new Managing Director following a vote of no confidence passed on the bank’s management led by Mr Sebastine Adigwe and the former secretary of the bank Mrs Sally Mbanefo at the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting of the bank’s shareholders held in Benin, Edo State on Tuesday February 17 this year.  According to the petitioner, “as the new Managing Director of the bank is set to take over the management of the bank in accordance with the order of the court your assistance is needed to make Sebastine Adigwe vacate office peacefully because we are law abiding citizens and we want a smooth hand over.” Counsel to the bank, Mr Olisa Agbakoba had earlier gone to a Federal High Court Lagos asking the court to declare the shareholders’ Extra-Ordinary General Meeting held in Benin unconstitutional, null and void. But Justice Dan Abutu in his ruling rejected the application and dismissed the suit in its entirety. Another shareholder of the bank, Twentieth Century Vintage Limited had obtained an order from a Federal High Court Osogbo directing the new Managing Director of the bank, Mr Adewale Raji “to immediately perform the duties of managing director of IMB International Bank Plc and administer or manage its affairs accordingly having been duly and properly elected as the Managing Director of the bank at the valid extra-ordinary general meeting.   Home  |  Cover Stories  |  National Newsreel  |  Politics  |  Business  |  Sports  |  World  | Contact © 1998- 2004.
