Eight secondary schools benefit from Jigawa's PPEM

KAZAURE—NO fewer than eight educational institutions in Kazaure local government area of Jigawa state have benefited from the Participatory Public Expenditure Management (PPEM) otherwise known as polling unit fund.

The Participatory Public Expenditure Management (PPEM) Introduced by Turaki administration last year enable local communities to have a say in the management of a monthly allocation of N70,000 to each of the 3,000 polling units throughout the state.

Alhaji Sabiu Musa, Chairman of the council told newsmen that the gesture is from the polling units joint capital project drawn to improve the standard of education in the area.

Sabiu Musa stated that two Senior Secondary Schools, three Junior Secondary Schools and three Primary Schools were among the Institutions that benefited from the 110, four seater desks, and chairs, out of 230 seaters slated for distribution to school in phases.

Musa disclosed that the bulk of the finances comes from the polling units fund adding the council only assisted to ensure proper implementation.

The Chairman therefore commended the state government for the revolutionary approach to management of local council fund, maintaining that it will speed -up development at the grassroot.

He disclosed that, the council has set-up a committee to meet and recomend for action demands of the populace, stressing that the idea is to aviod misplacement of priority.
