Upu President-General and
jobs
Without doubt,
and as the time is getting closer for the election of the next
President-General of UPU, who will
continue from Chief
Banjamin Okumagba, then it is also imperative for all Urhobo sons and
daughters both home and abroad to come together in one mind and deliberate
on who will be the next President-General of Urhobo Progress Union. Urhobo
should not consider the position of the President-General as a profit
making office, and that is the reason why whoever that will be appointed
for a such position, must be devoted, active, dedicated, committed,
capable and should have the interest of Urhobo at heart and to lead the Urhobo nation
efficiently to the promised land, especially providing job opportunities
for the youths, because the youths have suffered long concerning
unemployment as a result of non-recommendation from the leadership of the
Union. If it is noted that the youth of today are the future of Urhobo
nation, then something reasonable has to be done to guarantee a brighter
future for the coming generation. May I use this oppotunity to appeal to
UPU leadership to " review'' the employment strategies of Oil companies in
Urhoboland, because one of the major causes of high rate of unemployment
of Urhobo youths today is as a result of the Oil Companies refusal to
employ Urhobo youths. Instead, these oil companies employ non-indigenes who are not
even from any of the oil-producing communities in Niger-Delta.A good
instance of the oil producing companies that hardly employs Urhobo youth
is
SPDC.
While also appealing to Urhobo sons who are in good
positions to help, they should not hesitate to do so because helping one
another is the only key and way to the promised land. God bless Urhobo
nation, Amen.
