Reps probe refineries’ TAM contract tomorrow By Habeeb I. Pindiga The House of Representatives will tomorrow begin probe into the failed contracts awarded for the turn around maintenance of the nation’s refineries which were said to have gulped billions of naira but yielded no results. The probe is expected to kick off thro-ugh public hearing organised by the joint committees of petroleum resources and that of Petroleum Refineries and Products Marketing. Expected to appear before the two committees is Chrome Energy Services Limited, owned by business mogul, Chief Emeka Offor, which handled the Port Harcourt refinery maintenance work. A letter signed by the chairmen of the two panels, Dr Cairo Ojuogboh and Mr Peter Igbodo respectively, obtained by Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday, asked Chrome’s managing director to appear before the lawmakers at 10.00 a.m. tomorrow with relevant documents on the contract. The letter, entitled: Re: Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) at Port Harcourt Refinery”, said: “The joint committees of the House Committees on Petroleum Resources and Petroleum Refineries and Products Marketing has been directed to investigate the TAM activ-ities at the Port Harcourt Refi-neries Company Limited. “In pursuance of the above, you are hereby invited to appear before the joint committees on Thursday, 16th December, 2004 at 12 p.m. in the House Committee Room 27, National Assembly Complex, Abuja. “You are therefore required to attend the meeting with the following documents: (a) contract agreement for TAM and (b) other relevant documents that would facilitate proceedings at the meeting.”   TO NEXT NEWS PAGE...
