KANO state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau,
has advised intending pilgrims from the state to exhibit sense of discipline
and be good ambassadors of the country while in the Holyland.
The governor gave the advice while declaring
open the sensitization seminar for this years intending pilgrims from the
state at the Assembly Hall of the School for Arabic Studies, yesterday.
Malam Shekarau disclosed that the state
government had secured a befitting accommodation for the state pilgrims
close to the Holy Kaaba which can accommodate about 6,000 people.
The governor further noted that the house
rented at Makka was never rented by any black nation before, adding that it
will ease the Hajj exercise by Kano pilgrims.
He charged the participants of the seminar to
make good use of what they would have learnt during the sensitization
seminar while performing the Hajj rites.
Malam Shekarau pointed out that Hajj can only
be performed accurately when the pilgrim gets the full knowledge of how to
carry out the rites of the exercise.
Governor Shekarau also advised the officials to
perform their duty diligently both at home and at the Holyland, while urging
the intending pilgrims to turn out on time whenever the airlift begins.
On his part, the chairman of the state Task
Force Committee on Hajj 2005 who is also the commissioner of information,
Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar said they will try their possible best to ensure
a hitch-free Hajj operation.
Alhaji Abubakar thanked the state government
for giving them the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity,
observing however that it is not an easy task.
But with commitment and dedication, everything
will be successful, he added.
He enjoined the intending pilgrims to cooperate with the
officials of the pilgrims welfare board in order to record a smooth Hajj
operation.
