DAILY TRIUMPH-LG election: Politicking hots up in Katsina

LG election: Politicking hots up in Katsina

AS the local government election in Katsina state draws nearer, political activities have taken the high side as both ANPP and PDP candidates have intensified campaigns to win the council seats.

It was observed that Major-General Muhammadu Buhari appears to be making an extra sacrifice by touring all the local government councils to garner support for ANPP candidates.

Our correspondent reports that the campaign embarked upon by the General has re-awaken ANPPs hope of winning the election.

According to political observers in the state, General Buhari's tour will no doubt pose a threat to PDPs chances of winning the election.

Our correspondent who is monitoring political events in Katsina, reports that the ANPP has considered the local council polls as very crucial and vows to ensure its victory.

A source close to ANPP secretariat informed Daily Triumph that ANPP is ready to challenge the PDP and other parties during the election.

But in reaction to campaigns embarked upon by General Buhari, one of the PDP stalwarts explained that the party is not shaken by ANPPs preparedness, assuring that PDP will win the polls.

Meanwhile, the President of Peoples Salvation Party (PSP), Alhaji Wada Nas has said that fresh legal case would be filed against the Katsina state government for its refusal to involve six local government councils in next Saturday's council election.

Alhaji Nas had earlier dragged the state government before the Katsina High Court, praying the court to direct the government to involve six local government councils earlier excluded from the election or stop the election entirely.

The case was however struck out by the court, presided over by Justice Abdullahi Yusuf.
