From KABIRU YUSUF, Birnin Kebbi
AS crisis over the creation two new emirate
councils from the present Gwandu Emirate looms, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji
Al-Mustapha Haruna Jokolo has said that he has no grudges against anybody.
According to the emir who stated this while
receiving Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his palace last weekend, he never
had any grudge or accused Governor Aliero on the proposed new emirates.
I heard all the rumour and gossips that my
emirate and Governor Aliero are at daggers-drawn over the proposed plan to
create Jega and Aliero Emirates out of the present Gwandu Emirate. But let
me make it clear that I have nothing against Aliero or anybody, he stated.
Jokolo who said that he has no objection over
the issue, however, charged all his subjects to remain calm as nothing will
happen without Gods will: You should know that mans proposal may not be
Gods proposal, he added.
The emir then appealed to the federal
government to consider Abdullahi Gwandus palace as a National Monument,
arguing that the late scholar deserves to be posthumously honoured with such
kind of gesture.
He also stressed the need for federal
government to rehabilitate the palace which he said is currently in dire
need of total rehabilitation though the state government is doing its best
to maintain it.
Alhaji Jakolo while commending the vice
president for his outstanding contributions to the construction of Yola
Central Mosque, rehabilitation of Lamido Palace, 200 years of Sokoto
Caliphate among others, further urged him to assist in providing library
complex for Jamaatu Nasrul Islam.
In his remark, Alhaji Abubakar stated that he was in Birnin
Kebbi to attend the closing ceremony of the 19th National Quranic
Recitation Competition, adding that he is highly impressed with the
insfrastural development provided by Governor Adamu Aliero administration in
the state.
