From FAROUK ADAMU YAKASAI, Gusau
Zamfara state governor, Alhaji Ahmad Sani has
expressed concern over the non-completion of Jamaatu Nasril Islam
headquarters in Kaduna.
According to him, all Nigerian Muslims are not
happy that the headquarters of the JNI has not been completed so that it may
be put to use.
Governor Sani made his feelings known when he
received a 12-man delegation of the JNI Aid Group who called on him at the
Government House, Gusau under the leadership of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the
District Head of Dala local government of Kano state.
He therefore advised the JNI to summon a
meeting of Muslim governors in the country to discuss on factors hindering
the completion of the project.
Those who are sponsoring the project if they
can complete it then let them be given the chance to complete it. But if
they cannot we are ready to shoulder the responsibility of completing it
within six months, Governor Sani assured.
Announcing the state governments donation of
N10 million to the aid group, the governor also called on Muslims in the
North and across the country to always endeavour to give their widows mite
towards the propagation of Islam.
He also advised the aid group to expand its
activities towards the propagation of Islam by enlightening both Muslims and
non-Muslims alike on what Islam is all about.
I wish to assure you that we in Zamfara state
have the support of the people towards propagating Islam, what remains now
is for us to go out and give assistance for the development of Islam, he
added.
Earlier in his address, leader of the
delegation, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero had informed the governor that the
delegation was sent by the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Usman who
is the chairman of the JNI Aid Group.
Alhaji Bayero explained that the JNI is saddled
with logistic problems which include transportation, computer and internet
facilities to link the 30 branches of the JNI across the country, including
Abuja and the headquarters in Kaduna.
He, on behalf of Sultan of Sokoto, emirs of
Kano and Katsina, admonished Muslims to always be patient just like Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH).
He added that the aid group does not only
restrict itself to assisting only accident victims and the sick but also
teaches the Muslims on what is expected of them as Muslims.
He revealed that JNI plans to set up its branch in the Eastern
part of the country.
