KHA begins budget scrutiny

By ALIYU YUSUF

KANO state House of Assembly has given 3 weeks to the House Committee on Budget Appropriation to appreciate the 2005 budget to respective House committees for the commitment of defences.

Announcing the Speaker of the House, Hon. Balarabe Sa'idu Gani said that the time given will enable the appropriation committee and other House committees to invite commissioners and heads of parastatals in the state to defend their budget proposals.

The speaker therefore, called on the people in the state to desist from visiting members at the assembly premises for the two weeks, noting that doing so will allow the members concentrate on their budget engagements.

Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Ahmad Tambaya Dawanau, representing Dawakin Tofa constituency, had moved the motion seeking the House to give 13 days for the budget appropriation committee to call on commissioners and heads of parastatals to come to the House and defend their budget proposals.

The motion which was seconded by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Usman Saleh Muhammad representing Kibiya, was unanimously agreed by the House.

The House therefore has adjourned sitting till Monday December 27, 2004.

Meanwhile the Speaker of the House has led members of the House to condole with the families of late Garba Zugaci, at Zugaci village.

Late Zugaci, who was the father of the member of the state House of Assembly representing Gabasawa constituency, died Sunday night.

He has since been buried according to the Islamic rites, may his soul rest in peace and be granted Al-Jannatul Firdaus amin.
