WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2004           Yuguda commends ICAO for airspace security standard By Atiku S. Sarki, Abuja The minister of aviation, Mallam Isa Yuguda has commended the International Aviation Organisation (ICAD) for its consistency in ensuring safety and security standards in the airspace of member states. The minister made this commendation when he received a delegation of ICAD top ranking officers from its Regional Headquarters in Dakar, Senegal, led by Mr. Andrew Mensa, a deputy director in the regulatory organisation in his office in Abuja. He highlighted the possitive role of the regional office in Dakar in terms of keeping member states ahead in the aviation world. Mallam Yuguda specifically pointed out that the international organization has been very consistent in its surveillance and safety of airports in the African continent. The minister averred that aviation links countries and continents together which in turn contributes significantly to a nation�s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Similarly, vibrant tourism industry, according to Yuguda, is dependent on aviation and enjoined the Dakar, based regional headquarters to keep up the good works. Earlier in his address, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Andrew Mensa had stated that the five- day International Workshop on CNS/ATM is being attended by 26 countries and expressed the organisation�s gratitude to the government and people of Nigeria for their support.
