WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2004           Babura polling units leaders warned on fund diversion CHAIRMAN and secretaries of polling units, in Jigawa state have been warned to desist from diverting the money given to them through their respective polling units. The chairman of Babura local government Alhaji Aminu Kanta (AK) Babura, sounded the warning while distributing eleven million eight hundred and thirty thousand Naira to all the 169 polling units of the area. He said the money was given to them for the execution of viable projects in their localities that will uplift their living condition. Alhaji Aminu Kanta informed them that the state government has recently inaugurated a committee to monitor all the activities of polling units across the sate, stressing that plans are on top gear by his council to set up similar monitoring committee. The chairman further warned that any chairman, secretary or member of 10 delegate committee found wanting will not be spared no matter how highly placed. He said each polling unit was allocated a sum of seventy thousand naira which included N50,000 for the execution of projects, N10,000 as allowance for 10 polling unit delegates while another N10,000 is for women delegates allowances. Alhaji Kanta Babura commended the Jigawa state government for the prompt release of money to all the polling units in the state which had so far yielded positive results.
