Nas gets accolades for supporting Igbo presidency

Alhaji Wada Nas, former minister for special duties, has been commended for supporting the Igbo quest for the presidency in 2007.

Chief Uche Njoku, one of the frontline campaigners for the Igbo Presidency Project, commended Nas for his bold insistence that Igbos should be given the chance to produce the next president of the country.

What Alhaji Wada Nas is doing now is acceptable to me. The former minister knows that Easterners would help stabilise the Nigerian polity, having been playing powerful supportive roles to other ethnic groups previously, Njoku told news men last week in Owerri.

Endorsing the Yoruba effort on the Igbo presidency project, Njoku however, appealed to the Northerners to muster up courage to join Nas in the crusade.

Njoku called on Igbos within Nigeria and in the Diaspora to assert themselves for the 2007 project.

He said that the call was necessary following the political scheming gathering momentum and wondered why some Igbos were still foot dragging over the cause.

Njoku also pointed out that true leadership of the nation would be achieved when a President of Igbo extraction occupied the pinnacle of power, adding that Igbos had credible personalities canvassing for the Presidency.

He expressed satisfaction that Igbos had all the while been projecting one Nigeria project by contributing to the development of any area they found themselves.

Njoku pointed out that the Igbo man remained the only man that would rescue this nation, judging from his detribalised attitude towards unifying the nation at all times.
