WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2004           No �board room� points--Says Sports Minister The Sports Minister, retired Col. Musa Muhammad has ruled out ``board room points'' for clubs in next season's Globacom premier league soccer competition. The minister equally says the pro-league board to be set up soon will run the competition only for one year on trial basis before its take-over by professional club owners. Muhammad told newsmen on Monday in Abuja that more reforms of the country's sports were still under way, adding that the measures were in the national interest. ``No amount of intimidation will deter me from these reforms because I'm doing the right things, and I have a mandate. ``I do my job based on the guidelines of Mr President and all is in the national interest, ``People thought I will not implement reports of the Babayo Shehu committee (on NFA reforms), but we have started it with the repeal of decree (now Act) 101, '' he said. On FIFA's threat to NFA, Mohammed who recently returned from a meeting with FIFA president Sepp Blatter in Zurich, urged Nigerians to ``forget about any sanction.'' According to him, FIFA was only interested in making NFA to comply with its rules, adding that the federation was not against government funding of football.
