WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2004           Enyimba players get N1m presidential handshake each From KABIRU YUSUF, Abuja PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday said that Enyimba Football Club's victory in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup Champion League for the second time is everybody's victory and therefore donated N1 million to each of the players. According to Obasanjo, "this is an achievement that is worthy of celebration. And here on the federal government's side, not only are we celebrating it, we are felicitating with the members of the Eyimba Football Club. �Eventhough things are a little bit dicy, in spite of that, the Enyimba club members would get nothing less than what we have given people who have performed so beautifully like this and that is N1 million each," said Obasanjo. He then commended Governor Orji Kalu of Abia state for the support he gave the club to continue to perform this way, hoping that the club would continue to perform better. Chief Obasanjo stated that last year, Governor Orji Kalu promised to support the club to win the trophy for the second time, adding that winning the trophy has confirmed the governor's promise. In his presentation, Governor Orji Kalu informed Obasanjo that his club would retain the cup for the third time, saying that the players and the management were determined to make Nigeria proud by winning the cup for keeps.
