Last Updated: Friday, December 17th, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Peace returns to Ishiagu community   By Jacob Mbam Special Correspondent, Abakaliki   Peace has finally returned to Ishiagu community in Bayelsa State after a recent peace meeting at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu recently. Chairman of the peace committee and Commission for Rural Development, Mr. Ogbonnaya Ude, said at the inauguration of the new caretaker committee that they should be their brother’s keeper as no meaningful development could be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour, bitterness and acrimony. He said the crisis that erupted in the process of electing the new executive of Ishiagu Development Union should not be allowed to tear the people apart and urged them to come together and strengthen the executive as provided for by the union’s constitution. The Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, Mr. Onwa Ali Onwa, advised the people to be accommodating of one another so that justice would prevail in the area. He urged the people to avoid any act of indiscipline that could cause further crisis after the peace parley.
