Announcing this in Akure on Wednesday at a press briefing, the State Commissioner for Information, Tourism, Youth and Culture, Mrs. Tola Aworh, said the state government had already secured a bank loan of N300 million from Prudentbank for local government workers. The commissioner added that the loan, which would be disbursed through council chairmen, would attract 14 per cent interest and was reminiscent of the N500 million-loan facility for the state's civil servants recently procured from Omegabank. Meanwhile, the state government has announced that computer literacy is mandatory for its workers and legislators as from January. The programme which is to cost the state government about N500 million, is to ensure that the entire workforce of the state numbering about 27,000 and the state legislators become computer literate soonest. The policy, according to the state head of service, Mr. Alaba Isijola, is to ensure that the e-governance policy of the state government takes off as scheduled next year. In another development, the state government has rescinded its decision on the posting of about 301 teachers posted to the rural areas on compassionate and medical grounds, the information commissioner further disclosed.   Copyright� 2004.
