Obasanjo, Ogbeh feud normal in democracy, says Ibru
By Abiodun Fanoro
FOR Senator Felix Ibru, the lingering face-off between President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Chief Audu Ogbeh, is indicative of a dynamic and responsive democracy.
Ibru, the first civilian governor of Delta State, stated this during a chat with The Guardian at a Christmas party organised by "The Club".
The senator, who is the President of "The Club", said it was not true that the PDP National Assembly lawmakers failed to intervene in the crisis. He said that efforts were made and are being made to resolve the feud.
He added that the feud was normal and indicated that the PDP was a party where individuals air divergent views without hindrance.
Ibru said the PDP would prove cynics and prophets of doom wrong, as it would emerge stronger after the crisis.
The Christmas party was more of a retreat and an opportunity for busy chief executives to relax and unwind.
The hall of "The Club" located within Sheraton Hotel's building, Ikeja, was also enlivened by the angelic, golden and glowing voices of members of Lagos City Chorale, a choir and concert group. They sang different Christmas songs to the delight of the audience, which joined in the rendition.
In his remarks, Ibru paid glowing tributes to two members of "The Club", Chiefs Tola Olujobi and Hannah Thomopulos, mother of Maiden Ibru, Chief Executive of Guardian Press Limited, who passed on recently.
A minute's silence was observed for the two late members.
